This stunning dress captures the very best of the early 1930's styling, with its sophisticated glamour. It is made from a shimmering ivory satin, which drapes beautifully into a bateau neckline. The shape is very alluring, fitting sleekly around the bust and hips, then flaring out into the skirt. The sleeves are full at the top of the arm and are gathered to just below the elbow, where they become pretty cream lace which fits tightly and snaps closed at the wrist.

The back of the dress has a subtle vee neckline and closes with 28 satin covered buttons with satin loops (one button is missing). The skirt falls into a small train, which puddles out around the hem. Adding interest to the train are two lace panels measuring 4 inches wide at the top, 43 inches wide at the bottom, and 36 inches long.

Not pictured is the original veil that was worn with the dress. It is made from two layers of silk tulle with a 1920s or 30s type halo headpiece. The outer layer measures 17 inches and the inner layer 36 inches.

This gown is in superb condition for its age, just needing about three inches of stitching on the back seam, which has ripped open beneath the buttons. The veil is in very delicate condition with some holes and tears. When laid flat the dress measures as follows:

  • Bust - 33"
  • Waist - 25"
  • Hips - 36"
  • Sleeve length - 28"
  • Cuff width - 4"
  • Upper arm width - 8"
  • Shoulder to waist length - 15"
  • Waist to hem length - 43"
  • Overall dress length - 58"
  • Train length - 17"
